New UI Enhancements

 

Hide not selected

Previously, selecting and removing nodes and relationships took numerous mouse-clicks by requiring you to select one or multiple node and/or relationship properties to remove them.

With Release 2.02, simply select the property you wish to focus on and select “Hide not selected” to remove all non-selected nodes and relationships.


Hide orphaned nodes

After applying relationship filters within graph you are often left with “orphaned nodes”, or nodes with no relationships. This would previously require manual manipulation to select a node, select neighbors, select inverse, then remove the selection from graph.

With Release 2.02, we have added an easy button to remove all orphaned nodes in one click.


“Views” for analyzing data domains

We have heard from various user personas that deep-diving into the underlying data at the visualization level is important for identifying potential relationships and opportunities of interest.

Some example use cases we have heard from users:

  • Identifying relationships with large amount of research but low patent and/or clinical activity could represent an opportunity for a new drug.

  • Identifying high patent activity could present partnership opportunities.

  • Identifying potentially expiring patents, using a combination of the timeline slider and Views, could present opportunity to leverage existing technology and delivery methods for a new drug.

In Release 2.02, we provide you the ability to identify relationships of interest using the “Views” button. “Views” manipulates the styling of the graph to show varying forms of signal within the underlying data.

By selecting a particular View, graph will update in realtime by changing the color of relationships to reflect greater amounts of underlying data. This is particularly helpful when working with larger graphs where it is more important to finding desired signal in the data.

We have various Views for different data domains:

  • The first set are counts of underlying data domains, for example simply visualizing relationships with more clinical trials than others.

  • The second set are knowledge ratios, which allow you visualize the amount of data from one data domain as compared to another.

 


Highlighting search term in Supporting Research widget

To identify the associated text matching your search term in the Supporting Literature widget, you previously had to sift through the sentence and title results to find the correct string/substring.

With Release 2.02, search term text results are highlighted directly within the Supporting Research widget to make identifying key information faster and easier.

 



 

Performance Improvements

 

Controlled node exploration

We have seen a number of users inadvertently expand many nodes simultaneously often resulting in long rendering and load times.

To help avoid such situations, we've limited the number of nodes a user may expand simultaneously to 5 nodes at a time.


Expanded pre-filtering prompts

Increased threshold for showing filter before adding elements in the Configure Explore Filter to allow values over 1000.

Default value has been set to 3000 nodes but users may configure as they desire.



Known Bug Fixes

  • Fixed bug with Assertion Strength histogram filter binning resulting in filters for relationships with strengths seemingly >100%.

  • Rescaled Assertion Strength pre-filter in Configure Explore Filter to limit relationships to 50% and above. This aligns with the underlying data which only includes relationships >50% strength.
